Hints and Tips about Buying and Caring for Electrical Appliances

This page contains Hints and Tips on various subjects which are either on various other pages within this website or are new to us!

One snippet from this website which does come immediately to mind is the one about baby oil... you can get some lovely 'own brand' oils from the supermarkets at very reasonable prices... use baby oil on all your stainless steel appliances.

I use it on my electric kettle, makes it look really good. Do remember to do it when it only has cold water in, or is empty, though. Of course, the remaining oil on your hands is very good for them too, so no waste!

The next hints & tips are on an entirely different subject... that is... complaining effectively. I have covered this on other pages and also helped some website visitors personally. Remember you may not get a fair deal immediately, but being persistent usually pays off!

Know your rights Consumer Direct will inform you of your legal rights as a customer - do check it out - very useful.

Also click HERE to find out your rights under the Sale of Goods Act 1979. Know your rights, be persistent, and keep copies and details of letters, phone calls, and names of people you have contacted [ask for their names, and get them to spell it out - that way they know you mean business].

Another useful snippet is to visit Say No to 0870 where you will find the telephone number for the company you wish to contact - instead of using the expensive 0870 number they give out!

Lastly, on the subject of complaints - try our 'How to Complain' page.

And now how about another snippet from within this website? Why not visit our Carpet Cleaners/Shampooers page [which is within our 'Cleaning' section]... there you'll find loads of useful Stain Removal information.

Should you buy an extended guarantee when you make a purchase?

Advice on whether or not to buy a guarantee is only part of the story... think of all the commission the salesman gets on the extended guarantees.

Maybe it would be best, if you decide to get an extended guarantee, to consider other options on just where and when to purchase it. guaranteeThis link will take you to a government information webpage which deals with just this subject - a very useful and informative page!
