Wireless Broadband

What is available, and which supplier is the best?

A wireless broadband connection to the internet is now the norm in most cases. Wireless / Mobile broadband is the only available option in many cases now with some providers.

The speed provided is of concern to some customers, though not to others, and allowed downloading limits can be a concern as can be reliability of connection.

Full and thorough research should be done before you commit to any one provider to make sure that they offer all the facilities which you expect and will need.

Do remember to check the length of contract and any charges which will be applied if you change supplier, either after the conclusion of the stipulated period - or, horror of horror, before - please read all the small print.

I know it is extremely boring, and they never use one word when a hundred will do, or use short readable sentences when a convoluted paragraph will better confuse you - or, better yet, deter you from reading!

***

There are an ever increasing number of advertisements on the television for wireless broadband from many companies... they all offer very different packages. Listen carefully to what they have to offer. Check 'the small print'! And check what components of a particular deal will be most useful to you, and in line with your individual requirements.

Combining services, for example the Get Sky Digital TV, Broadband, Phone for £26, order online! offer could be just what you are looking for. If you don't want TV included, there are plenty of wireless broadband plus phoneline rental and/or free evening calls on offer at present.

As you will appreciate mobile broadband is a vast subject... and there is a potential for a considerable saving over a year.

[Please note: - there are still some areas, and parts of the country where broadband is unavailable - or amazingly s-l-o-w. Thorough research is needed to ensure you don't pay for a service which cannot supply what it promises.]

From 'Wireless Broadband' to our page on switching suppliers

Are you already a wireless broadband subscriber? Do you have gripes with your present supplier? Or, on the other hand, are you quite happy with your supplier and would just like a more competitive rate?

You could check out the link above to see what rates are available. Know what is on offer. Then, perhaps, you might like to contact your present supplier once you are armed with details of what else is on offer. A good place to look to help you get your thoughts into order is our How to Complain page. Use the advice to write a list of points you want to make... it will be useful even if you have a free-phone number to call, or a free online complaints procedure.

You could well meet with a brick wall the first time. Do persevere. The more of us who complain, the more likelihood there is that long-standing customers will get treated in a better way! This applies to broadband and many other services besides... witness a popular advert which comes to mind from the banking sector!

Which? have many useful new offers which you can access from the link below... besides the free trials, there are also individual reports available now, where you pay for just the report you require. Could be an extremely useful way to find out how to save on a particular item or service.

There is a link below to Which?... they published a report -March 2008 - which included a Computer section which included information on Broadband.
