DEHUMIDIFIERS
Dehumidifiers
Another thought on the drying of the weekly wash... especially during the winter.
If washing hanging around on airers on wet days and/or during the winter months causes a problem, yet you don't have room for a tumble or spin dryer... there is another possible remedy.
Washing can cause damp, condensation, even mould in some buildings... and the facile advice "open a window" isn't quite the ideal answer when cold winds, icy rain, or even snow is around! Letting all that expensive warm air out is neither economically nor environmentally feasible. In fact, the only time opening a window is a sensible answer, is exactly the time when the washing can go outside anyway!
If you do need to take some of the water out of the air in your home... then this may be your ideal solution. We used to live in an old cottage which got amazingly damp... so we bought one many years ago.
The amount of water they can, and do, collect, even in modern homes, is quite alarming. [Incidentally, if you are a pot plant fan... then it's useful to remember that the water collected in your dehumidifier is particularly good for plants.]
I have found two stockists of dehumidifiers... one is Tesco, which stocks a DeLonghi model, presently priced at £279.99, with free delivery... the other is Argos who stock quite a few dehumidifiers. They range in price from £14.95 for small space models up to £199.95 for a DeLonghi model which has electronic climate control, and can remove up to 18 litres of water per day.
You can order from the website for collection from your chosen/nearest Argos shop [saves disappointment, I have often managed to obtain the last remaining one of an item I particularly wanted]... they do deliver, but it is only items costing over £150.00 and ordered on the internet which are delivered without charge.

Isn't this an offer that's too good to miss?
