Discount Electrical Appliances
Buying Goods at a Discounted Price
Discount Electrical Appliances...
Purchasing an electrical appliance, or any other goods for that matter, at a discount can be achieved in several different ways... dependent upon cash, time, and barefaced cheek! If you have any, or all of the above, then you are well placed to get the best possible price for the item which you wish to obtain.
If you are short on the above 'facilities'... don't despair. [The saying that there are more ways than one to skin a rabbit (or cat) can apply here too.]

Obviously, if you have one kettle, or other small electrical appliance... and it breaks down on you... you need to replace it immediately. In this case you only have one choice... ring round, find the cheapest supplier of the brand and item of your choice... and go get it.
Very often - Argos - will be your best bet in this instance!

If a 'wholesaler' is not open to you... you need to be a business buyer, with at least some headed paper and a business card... then there are many other options. In any case you need to know what you are doing when you visit wholesalers - sometimes you have to buy more than one, a pallet even, or perhaps you cannot test the item before purchase.
Obviously if it doesn't work you have to take it back and the necessary travelling may add to your costs to such an extent that it isn't really worth the risk. Also you have to buy what is there, and that may not be either what you want or the best brand. Unless you really know exactly what you are doing and meet the correct criteria then it is best to try some other avenues to get your appliances at discount prices.

How about searching for - Brand new products on eBay.co.uk ?
There are many reputable sellers on eBay who have items for sale at a set price with the 'Buy Now' symbol. The first thing you must check is the sellers 'feedback'... if they have lots of positive feedback, then that is a very good start... and if they also offer a guarantee, even better.
Check everything out fully. What about postage? Normally the buyer is responsible for this... so if the seller is close at hand, could you arrange to collect? You can get in touch via the system and make mutually convenient arrangements. Remember the seller wants, and needs your positive feedback.

Another obvious strategy is to sort out exactly what you want to buy, then wait for the sales.
If you are strapped for cash make sure you don't add to the previously bargain price... with an extortionate interest rate!
Our Finance & Credit page is crammed with useful information, and should save you a small fortune in that department.

Another idea is to have a shopping catalogue with Over 35,000 Great Value items, for you, your family and your home at Littlewoods Direct available for your own personal use... and you can normally get an agreed amount off your first order, if it is over a certain amount.
They do have special promotions, though their sales normally concentrate mostly on clothes... an additional bonus is that, quite often, there is an extremely generous 'buy now, pay later' date in force.
And you don't pay any credit charges, unless you elect to buy over a longer period, or miss payments. Delivery is free too! All in all, I find catalogue shopping to be time saving and a useful additional string to the shopping bow.

If you have plenty of time and the cash to buy the item... decide what you want first... then go into any shop which stocks it and ask what is the 'best price' they can offer on it.
If the salesperson doesn't play ball, ask if the manager could reduce the price. Do this in a few shops, playing each price reduction off against another shop... till you get the reduction you were looking for.
Please don't spoil your savings by taking out an extended guarantee! See our page on Guarantees ... don't miss it... and also the page on
Finance & Credit - incidentally, there are some credit cards which are particularly helpful with extended guarantees.
