Energy Saving Tips

Saving Energy... and thereby saving money...

Energy Saving... with energy bills escalating increasingly rapidly it makes sense to investigate the best ways to halt that escalation.

Also check out our page on SWITCHING energy suppliers which is explained below.

One of the best energy saving tips is to install a solar panel, it is costly, and you must choose your supplier carefully. I personally think there should be more government grants for this type of work. Personal wind power is also a good idea, as is geo-thermal if you have the room and finance.

It is an extremely 'green' thing to do, and with all the talk about climate change and greenhouse gasses... it must make sense.

As we are, arguably, going to get more sunshine [and wind] during the year... now seems an ideal time to look into these options! This would help the UK meet its agreed emission targets. But, sadly, we don't live in an ideal world!

We can help...
Make your house a home...
Then turn your home into
a castle!

We won't get into the nuclear debate here, or we could get VERY sidetracked... though I firmly believe solar panels plus individual wind turbines would be a cheaper, and preferable, option, and without the waste disposal problems.

Many of the saving energy ideas, cost money in the first place... so again the better off can save energy [and thereby money] more easily.

The best advice is to look into all the different ways in which you can save energy, and then start implementing them slowly, as you can afford them.

Energy efficient light bulbs are coming down in price, shop around for offers is my best advice, they will save you money in the long run. You can get a special plug for your refrigerator or fridge/freezer which will quickly pay for itself in energy saved.

Also, as appliances wear out and need to be replaced, make sure you obtain an 'A' rated/graded replacement... which will use less energy.

Hopefully, as you begin to implement these ideas, there will be a snowball effect... and your bills will no longer go inexorably upwards, but will start to go down [who is dreaming here!]... you could plough the resulting savings into more schemes to save even more energy... and money.
