Grills
These grills are sold as a healthier way of cooking. As a way to reduce the fat in your food. As easy to use, and, as a speedy way to prepare your food. Do these claims stand up to a closer examination?
Yes. I definitely think that they do.
Although there are those who claim that they don't do what they claim to do, and are a totally unnecessary addition to your kitchen... I have heard nothing but praise from the many people I know who own them. I find mine an invaluable help - read about it below.
If I had limited worktop space which allowed for just a few small appliances, this item would certainly be very high up on my list.

One of the arguments against them is that your cooker has a grill so you might just as well use that!
My comments on that statement would be...
• These appliances are easier to clean
• They cook faster, as food is cooked from both sides at once
• Thus, could save energy
• Fat drains away during the cooking process
You may not want to turn on your cooker for just a few grilled items to go with a salad, or similar. Alternatively, you may be already using your oven for baked items... and if you have a grill which is sited in your oven then you will need one of these appliances for the extra convenience it affords. I would much prefer to have a toaster and one of these appliances... and keep the oven as just that... [see my comments on the cooking information].
If you are cooking items which hold a lot of fat, like chops or similar items, you will find with conventional grilling that the food sits in the fat which comes out of the food. Not only that, but it will spit and make quite a mess. You have none of these problems if you choose one of these appliances... and, if you go for the brand I am about to recommend, the cleaning is especially easy as they have removable plates.
As they cook faster you should save a bit on energy... not much I admit, but in time it should add up.

Which one would I recommend? If you go to Argos you will find the HG21 Antony Worrall Thompson health grill.
It is a beautiful sturdy appliance, has removable plates for ease of cleaning, a safe clip-on tray... and it comes complete with a recipe book.
I know it isn't the most popular/well known brand, that accolade must go to the various George Foreman grill models... but just because a brand has caught the imagination, and become recognised, does not necessarily mean it is the best!

I always go online to Argos nowadays and pre-order whatever I require [either for collection if it a small item, or to have delivered if large and bulky] it makes sure you don't miss out on any special offers, and secures the item for you.
