How To Clean a Dryer
Dryer Care & Maintenance

How to clean a dryer is actually quite simple. Proper care and maintenance of your dryer will provide you with an extended life and in the end save you money.

How to Maintain Your Dryer

Dryers often get plugged in and left alone! Well, that is what must of us do with tumble dryers. There is some maintenance and care involved in keeping your dryer in top notch shape.

Maintaining the Outside of the Dryer

Simply wipe down the top, sides and front of your dryer with a damp cloth. You will be amazed at how much lint and dust accumulates there. In behind the dryer is another story and should be maintained regularily. If you have a direct vent dryer, make sure the dryer vent hose is in good condition, and clean it. Large build of dust will accumulate back there. Vacuum it out at least every 3 months. Check vent clamps while you are cleaning and the vent hose for any holes. Holes in the hose will affect your dryer.

Maintaining the Inside of the Dryer

The inside of the dryer actually gets dirty! Seems weird, but it is true. Wipe the inside of the dryer with a clean damp cloth to remove any dirt and accumulations of dust. Lint trap should be emptied after each load, and vacuum the lint trap holder at the same time you are vacuuming behind your dryer unit. Wash the lint screen in warm soapy water every 3 months to remove dirt and build up. Don't forget to wipe down all around the door! This is where you get the most dirt and debris.

There you have it! Easy care and cleaning for your tumble dryer.
