Iron...

Steam or Dry, Roller, Rotary Ironer, Trouser Press, or Steam Generator

Whether you are looking for a basic dry iron, a steam iron, or any of the more fancy appliances which it is now possible to buy... like a rotary press, steam generator, steam press, trouser press or even a roller... what they will all do is press your clothes;   and maybe your sheets, blankets, and table linen too if it takes your fancy!

Which will prove to be your best buy? You will have to study what each appliance can accomplish, and set that against your own personal requirements... before you can begin to make your final choice.

Whichever you choose to buy will depend partly on the cost and also on how much ironing you intend to do. Most people find it to be one of their most disliked household chores, others do it either as a part-time, or even full-time, job and thoroughly enjoy it. If you intend to do it professionally you will, no doubt, require more than one appliance, and probably more than one kind or type of appliance.

Before I go on to availability... two further points... first... in reviews, and tests, both the Philips and Rowenta brands came out as superior in every way. Second... a general tip... begin by sorting your clothes, and other items which require pressing, then press everything which requires a cool iron first. In this way, not only do you save time whilst waiting for your iron to heat up, but you also save on electricity... most importantly there is no chance of scorching, or ruining in any way, items which need a cool setting.

At Argos.co.uk there is a choice of just under 100 items which range in price down from around £250 down to just £3.99. There are steam generators, trouser presses, plus steam, travel, and dry irons by a range of well respected manufacturers, including Philips and Rowenta.

I have recently had to replace an old iron, and got one of the Philips Azur type. I was particularly pleased with it... it has a 2 year guarantee... works beautifully, steam is good, and the sole plate just seems to glide over the ironing in a far superior manner... and when I ordered it from the Argos website to collect, I found that it had been reduced to half price!

Littlewoods Home Shopping has a choice of 18 items within this section.

At Tesco on the Electrical home page, click on 'Ironing and Sewing' for a choice of over twenty, and Philips and Rowenta are included in the brand selection.

Be-direct stock Polti steam generator ironing systems... you will find them in the Laundry section. Sometimes there are irons available in the Small Kitchen Goods section too.

The Co-op Electrical Shop have both Philips and Rowenta in stock... two items from each manufacturer.

Finally, but definitely not least important, at you will find and extensive selection of reasonably priced irons available online. Check out those online prices NOW. [I saved over £21 by buying online, on an item which cost less than £100 in-store.

One point to consider seriously, if you are thinking about a steam cleaner... is a package deal they have on the Polti Vaporetto 2400, a steam cleaner and iron at £339.98... this must be well worth a serious ponder!
