A Cafe Style Toasted Sandwich Maker...
The Panini Press is a newer kitchen innovation, compared to the Sandwich Maker. But roughly the same observations apply to the purchase of either, or both, appliances... if it isn't on the worktop, then it won't get used, and, as well as considering buying it for yourself, you may see it on a wedding list, or it would make a brilliant 'going to University' gift.
They are sometimes called cafe style toasted sandwich presses, but, whatever the title they are given, externally they look fairly similar to a sandwich maker... but work differently. They are built with adjustable plates, the top plate will be above your sandwich and will not press down upon it whilst it is cooking.
The Panini Press I recommend has a unique floating hinge top plate which means that you can successfully cook open sandwiches, or melt cheese over your rolls. It has non-stick flat cooking plates - so much easier to clean. Remember not to use anything which is abrasive to clean non-stick items.
With room for two full rounds of sandwiches, power-on and ready lights, a 2000W rapid heat up, and very reasonable price, what more could you require?

Again I am going to recommend a Breville appliance - so reliable and with innovative design features - this one has a cord tidy, with upright storage facilities... easier for storing.
When you decide upon a Panini press... please note... that the sandwich fillings do not get that hot.

Where to find your cafe style sandwich press? I found it at Argos , and, as always, I advise that it's much easier and more reliable to pre-order online.
Just click on 'Household Appliances', then 'Small Kitchen Appliances', then type 'sandwich makers' into the Search box and click 'Go' - that way you will come up with just a couple of pages of results... you will find the Breville Panini Press you require on the first page.
