Toaster

There are just SO many toasters available now. Most are of a far better design and safety standard than those of just a few years ago... and the temperature of the outer surfaces remains much cooler than it once did! So what are we going to base our choice upon?

I have just a few hints and tips...

 •  You may wish to base your choice upon the colour and/or material the appliance is made of...

 •  You could be looking to match your toaster to your kettle...

 •  On the other hand, you may already have a favourite brand/manufacturer, and so want to choose one of their products...

 •  Another consideration is... just what will the toaster be used for? [Toast!]  No, perhaps a better question is... will it be needed for thicker items like teacakes and crumpets, or will it just be used for different thicknesses of bread?

If it is required for the thicker items... look for a model with wide openings, or better still, adjustable slots.

I think your best bets, for actually locating what you are searching for, are the retailers of multiple goods, rather than the specialist electrical suppliers... who tend not to stock a vast selection of small appliances.

I have checked out four of my favourite multiples, and they have quite a good range and selection. You will find that there are two, three, and four slice models available.

If you are looking for a recommendation in regard to brand... I would choose between Kenwood, Breville and Morphy Richards... though most named brands make a reasonably acceptable range.

In this case paying more definitely doesn't guarantee a better product, my recommendation would be to stick to ones which come in at under £50, those at around the £30 mark are particularly worthwhile.

You will be able to find toasters which have all the following features... stainless steel, adjustable slots, and extra long slots for the above price. If you consider it worth it, insurance for 3 years can be arranged at time of purchase for under £5.

Tesco have over 30 different toasters available at the moment. If you want to use your toaster for warming buns, then the Morphy Richards 44411 is a particularly good buy.

Littlewoods Home Shopping has a choice of 20, just click 'More info' for clear details about any model you are interested in.

At Argos there is a staggering choice of over 60 models. You can narrow this number down by searching according to either a particular brand or colour/finish.

Woolworths ... give it a try! You could be surprised at what you find on their website. Quite a reasonable selection you must admit!
