Vacuum Cleaner minis
Handheld or Stick, Mains or Cordless?
Vacuum Cleaner minis, handheld or stick . . . . .
[This vacuum cleaners section is in three separate parts, one which deals with cylinder cleaners, one on upright cleaners, and the other on mini cleaners... both the handheld and stick types.]

These lightweight/mini vacuums can be divided into cordless and mains, and further into handheld models, and models which resemble an electric broom and are called stick vacuums.
None of these models is supposed to take the place of a full size vacuum in any way.
BUT, they are such a brilliant addition for small jobs.
The cordless models come with recharge units which you can mount on your wall.
Leave your vacuum there permanently, when not in actual use, and the short battery life should not be any problem at all.
Vacuum Cleaner - minis
What can you do with vacuum cleaner minis? What jobs are they useful for? Which type will be most useful for you? Cordless or mains?
Dependent upon which model/type you choose... you can expect to be able to clean your stairs without having to lug a heavy conventional machine up and down them. Do a quick, between vacuuming, dust, crumb or carpet job. They are brilliant for hard floors and you can reach all those awkward to reach nooks and crannies. You can clean your car, and you can clean your computer keyboard beautifully... these are just some of the little jobs which can be accomplished... I am sure you will find more uses once you have chosen your helpmate.

Some thoughts on which type may be most helpful... this will depend partly upon which of the above jobs you wish to use it for... so imagine the machine in use in your own particular household.
Decide whether or not cordless would be of benefit... will you be using it for your car? Will the flex be long enough, will it get in the way? What about stairs?
Next decide whether a handheld model or a stick would be most useful... the stick will mean that you don't have to bend down when doing any small flooring area. Against a pure stick is the fact that it could get in the way when cleaning the car or when trying to clean items like your keyboard which is up on a desktop area.
My personal choice has been for a cordless [so much more versatile] and a model which easily converts from stick to handheld... you have the best of both worlds, plus total convenience!

One thing to note is that none of the models deals brilliantly with pet hair, but that said, none of the full size vacuum cleaners are brilliant at this job either!
I find if you have vacuumed and a collection of pet hairs remains... if you take an old face cloth or towel, get it wet, but not dripping... then rub the hairs with that, they will collect together in a ball which you can then hand pick from the area.

Vacuum Cleaner minis... which one?
Finding the best vacuum cleaner minis was not an easy job. But if you have decided, like me, to go for a cordless... then I think you will be impressed with the one I am about to recommend. It is a stick model, but easily converts to handheld.
Regrettably, price-wise, the vacuum cleaner minis which I used to recommend are no longer available. But this new one is a far superior model... a 9.6V, as opposed to a 6V.
All the write-ups I have seen about these vacuum cleaner minis have been MOST favourable... in fact one reviewer stated that she was in love with it. [I must admit, I agree.]
There is, in fact, just one minus point in the UK. If you compare the price of a basic vacuum to vacuum cleaner minis... then they are expensive. That said, they are a versatile, and most useful tool... so maybe we shouldn't compare prices... just enjoy the convenience they offer!
I am hoping the price here will come down, as it is well above the $100 they expect to pay in the US... the retail price is £89.99.

Vacuum Cleaner minis... best buy
You will find the Electrolux ZB272 at Argos .
Their current price is £89.95... the best way to find it is to negotiate your way to Vacuums, then search by brand name. You will also find the 'non-stick' handheld only version. Much cheaper, but I think handheld only rather narrows your options... another choice though!
I always recommend that if you want to buy an item from Argos , you order it for collection via the website. You could save yourself a wasted trip, and you may get a price reduction... I have had quite a few good reductions in this way.

The other alternative is to look for Brand new products on eBay.co.uk there you will need to click first on 'Home & Garden', then the 'Cleaning...' heading, and finally to 'Vacuum Cleaners'. When I bought the Electrolux ZB272 stick new via an eBay shop it was available at an extremely favourable price.
This is the route I took, and I obtained one [including postage] at about half the retail price.
If items which you are looking for are not on offer it's quite a good idea to post your requirement to 'Want It Now'. And if buying from eBay is new to you, you could first check out Why eBay is Safe .

If you are determined to go for a handheld only machine I am told that the Black & Decker ones are the best, you can get a VH 780 which is a mains model, or a CV 9605 which is cordless.
I have found an extremely useful supplier for 'Tools' ... it is
Tooled-Up
and if you scroll down the opening page, looking on the left hand side of the page until you come to 'Branded Shops'... then Black & Decker is the first shop! You will then have to make your choice of cordless or mains, they stock both the recommended vacuum cleaner minis within their appropriate sections.
